FUNCTIONAL DIAGNOSTIC TESTING

Understanding your health at a deeper level often requires more than standard testing. That’s where functional diagnostic testing comes in. I specialize in ordering and interpreting advanced lab tests that go beyond what conventional medicine can offer, providing a comprehensive view of your health. These tests help identify underlying issues that might be missed with routine testing, allowing us to craft a highly personalized treatment plan for your specific needs.

Specialized Testing Offered

Comprehensive Stool Testing: Evaluates gut health, including microbiome balance, digestive function, immune function and inflammation markers.
Food Sensitivity Testing: Identifies specific foods that may be triggering and inflammatory response and contributing to chronic symptoms.
SIBO/IMO Breath Testing: Diagnoses small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and intestinal methanogen overgrowth (IMO), a common cause of bloating and digestive discomfort.
Comprehensive Hormone Panels: Assesses hormone levels to pinpoint imbalances that affect energy, mood, and overall well-being. Hormones tested include sex hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone, thyroid hormones and adrenal hormones.
Organic Acid Tests: Offers comprehensive insights into metabolic processes, nutrient deficiencies, detoxification pathways, digestive health and overall cellular health.

Functional Interpretation of Routine Blood Tests

In addition to these specialized tests, I also offer routine blood testing. However, unlike standard practices, I interpret these results using functional reference ranges. Traditional reference ranges typically reflect what the average is for the general population, but don’t necessarily represent optimal health. By using functional ranges, I ensure that subtle imbalances are detected early, allowing for proactive and effective treatment.

Who Benefits from Functional Testing?

These tests are used for both adults and children and are particularly useful for diagnosing and/or treating:

Digestive disorders like IBS, IBD, and SIBO/IMO
Skin conditions such as eczema and acne
Hormone imbalances including thyroid dysfunction and adrenal fatigue

Women's health concerns such as fertility and menopause

Fatigue, brain fog, and other mental health concerns
Chronic diseases that haven’t responded to conventional treatments
